Animal farm is located in Yamanashi Prefecture, the central
part of Japan. This facility is
primarily used for educational training and research, and also for the benefit
of the health and welfare of our university staff and students. At this animal
farm, veterinary students in the second year carry out practical training every
summer. And students of the department of Animal Science also use it on various
occasions such as the orientation for freshmen and freshwomen, rural farm surveys,
and animal farm practical training. In the animal farm, there are many species
and breeds of animals for experimental farming and for display. As dairy cattle,
we keep breeds of Holstein, Jersey, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, etc. As beef cattle,
there are such breeds as Japanese Black Cattle, Japanese Brown Cattle, Japanese
Shorthorn, Hereford and Zebu. Other animals kept here are some species of horses,
ponies, sheep, goats, hens, fowls (in particular, silky fowls), rabbits, dogs,
